Time to Fall in Love with Your New Home!

The fall market is upon us, and there has never been a better time to fall in love with your new home. It’s a common misconception that the only time to buy or sell is the spring and summer, but in actuality the fall market is one of the busiest real estate seasons. In from September to October 2012, over 250 new residential listings came on the market. During the same period of time over 180 families fell in love with their new dream home.

The wonderful thing about listing in the fall is that you typically find a more motivated buyer. Winter is fast approaching, and buyers are eager to find their home and settle-in before the holiday season. This is an excellent opportunity for sellers; although you might have less showings then in the spring market, the buyers are often more serious and ready to make the move.

On the flip side, if you were a buyer in Northumberland over the spring of this year you likely noticed listings popping up and selling rather quickly, often in multiple offers. This can be frustrating; just when you think you’ve found your dream home it gets snatched up by another buyer.

The fall market isn’t typically as competitive as the spring market. If 2013 matches the activity seen 2012, over 250 new residential listings can be expected to hit the market. You’ll find not more selection then the summer market, but you’re not as likely to have to compete with multiple buyers for your dream home.
