Your Northumberland Holiday Activity Guide!

It’s hard to believe but the holidays are just the corner! One of the best things about life in Northumberland is that when it comes to celebrating the holiday season there is no shortage of parades, events, and festivities throughout our towns and villages. The hard part is knowing when and where everything is taking place!
With that in mind I’ve created your one stop weekend guide to all the fun and festivities taking place in our county over the holiday season.

Cobourg Santa Claus Parade - Sunday November 15th at 2:00pm. The parade season kicks off in Ontario’s Feel Good Town of Cobourg with the Santa Clause parade; filled with beautiful floats and of course the jolly old man him self! Below is a link to the parade route:

Brighton Christmas Parade - Friday November 20th at 6:00pm. Looking for something a little different in your parade festivities? Visit Brighton for their evening parade which begins at 6:00pm with lighting up the town followed by the parade at 7:00pm down Main Street.

Cobourg Christmas Magic - Friday November 20th at 6:15pm. Cobourg’s Christmas Magic has moved to the Esplanade and will begin with the lighting of a 22 foot tall tree! There will be festive music and the jolly old man himself will be there to give out hot chocolate and cookies to all the good little girls and boys. Bring a non-perishable food item for donation and you’ll get a glow stick to join in the fun. It all starts at 55 King Street West at 6:15pm with the tree lighting starting at 7:00pm.

Capitol Christmas Festival of Trees - Saturday November 21st to Monday December 21st. Visit the Capitol theatre and be in awe as it has decked out with thousands of lights and trees. It’s a beautiful display not to be missed! While you’re there be sure to grab tickets for one of the Capitols festive shows. Be it this years Panto “Snarl'd the Rapunzel” or the family friendly Christmas Bells production.

Candlelight Walk & Christmas Lighting Ceremony - Friday November 27th at 7:00pm. Imagine taking a step back in time to an old fashioned Christmas. Take a stroll down Walton Street for a candle lite walk with fellow carollers down to Memorial Park where thousands of lights and trees. If you’re interested in attending a remarkable experience, carollers meet at the corner of Walton & Pine for 7:00pm.

Process Theatre Christmas Show: For Lease Navidad - November 27th to December 3rd. The brand new theatre on the block, Process Theatre in Colborne Ontario, will present its inaugural production from November 27 to December 13 with its Original Comedy Review ‘For Lease Navidad!’ A show not to be missed and with tickets being only $25 an affordable evening out! Port Hope Santa Clause Parade - Saturday November 28th at 1:00pm. Rudolf leads Port Hope’s parade down Walton Street. Port Hope’s downtown comes alive during the holiday season and you’ll be hard pressed to find a more beautiful downtown during the holiday season.

Colborne Santa Clause Parade - Saturday November 28th at 7:00pm. Christmas of the Future is coming to Downtown Colborne! The parade route begins at the corner of Elgin & King street and will end at Victoria Park with Santa Clause will be at the gazebo to give out goodies to all the kids and pick up your Christmas wish list!

Warkworth Santa Clause Parade - Friday December 4th 7:00pm. The quiet village of Warkworth lights up for their evening Santa Clause Parade. The simple village setting is ideal for a picturesque parade of lights along their main street.

Warkworth Lantern Walk & Concert - December 12th at 6:00pm. An old fashioned Lantern walk with Carolling through the streets of downtown Warkworth. The walk ends with a concert of Holiday music. The festivities start at 6:00pm at the St. Paul’s United Church.
